Puppet Shows for All Occasions

The Scallywags are a travelling puppet show that is designed for youth groups, mentally and physically challenged groups, schools, community groups, etc.

Our aim is to provide entertainment that will encourage young people to explore the relevant factors relating to issues that matter to them. Cleverly designed to represent youth culture, these cool dudes tackle important issues such as Bullying, Drugs and Alcohol, Relationships, Cross-Community issues etc.

The Scallywags can perform a number of plays that were written and researched by Paul McNulty. Paul has worked with youth in many ways for the past ten years, and has gained a good understanding, knowledge and respect of youth issues. These are some of the plays:

1.    SILENT FEAR - This play deals with issues around bullying; it shows the different types of bullying and is designed to bring out the feelings of the victim am the bully.

2. BIG BOYS DON'T CRY - This play looks at the reasons why young people take drugs or alcohol, e.g. peer pressure, curiosity, bad feelings like guilt etc.

3. THIS LAND IS OUR LAND - This play looks at our different cultures through the eyes of a Catholic girl called Aine, and a Protestant boy called Will. The play gives us an insight into each others beliefs and cultures.

1. MAKING YOUR OWN HAND PUPPET

This is a two-hour workshop that gives young people a chance to use their artistic skills in making their own personal hand puppet.

2. MAKING YOUR HAND PUPPET COME ALIVE

This two hour workshop is to teach young people the skills of being a puppeteer.

3. MAKING YOUR HAND PUPPET PERFORM

This is also a two hour workshop that gives kids a chance to perform on stage a script, or theme which they created themselves.

We can also provide the puppets - your young people can put words into their mouths. In this way shy children find it easier to articulate their feelings around difficult issues.


The Ramblin' Scallywags Puppet Theatre are also available to provide light entertainment for Festivals, Carnivals and Fair Days with our outdoor mobile theatre.


We can also do private birthday parties etc., in the comfort of your own home with our mini theatre.
